Window box challenge

Our tame horticulturalist Paul shows how it’s done

Our lead gardener Paul Thompson held a window box workshop in the community garden in May (right ), generously sharing his expert advice and offering us many useful tips on how best to plant and maintain a beautiful window box. A very helpful morning – and no excuses now for not entering our new window box competition.

We want to recognise the effort neighbours are making to enhance the neighbourhood, so we are holding a competition for the best window box in the Arlington Association area. Entries and nominations will be judged by a prize-winning gardener from outside the neighbourhood and we will announce the result at the Summer Fete. The winner will receive the boundless admiration of neighbours and the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Banksian Medal.

If you have a beautiful window box – or you admire someone else’s in the neighbourhood – let us know the address and we will add them to the list to be judged. Send an email headed ‘Window box’ to arlingtonassociation@hotmail.co.uk.
