Concert pianist Rupert Egerton-Smith

2012 is the Year of Music at St James’s in Prebend Street. The church has announced an impressive programme of Islington Proms – Saturday night concerts of vocal and instrumental music featuring internationally renowned performers.

On 28 April the Syred Consort play music by Locke and Couperin, on 19 May there’s a recital by concert pianist Rupert Egerton-Smith (pictured), an Arlington Square resident, and on 30 June Canticum Canticorum take us on A Journey In Polyphony.

Then on 21 July the Crofton Singers provide Music for a Summer Evening, on 22 September there’s a recital by pianist Andrew Brownell, and the Hermitage String Quartet perform on 24 November. All the concerts start at 7.30pm.

There will be a special Kid’s Prom on 8 October at 7pm. Anyone interested in taking part – local children’s choirs and musical groups, and anyone aged 10 and over with good performing skills – should email the Parish Office on vicar@stjamesislsington.org or call 020 7226 4108.

Tickets for the Islington Proms cost from £4 to £10 (children free at the Kid’s Prom) and are on sale now at the Parish Office, St James’s Vicarage, 1a Arlington Square.
