Pack-Up every Monday

A weekly soup kitchen has been set up in response to a need for a warm environment and some good food for the less fortunate members of our community. The scheme, known as Pack-Up, is organised by members of St James’ Church, supported by residents from throughout the area. The support team also includes wheelchair users from the sixth form at Richard Cloudesley School.

The soup kitchen is open in St James’ Hall, Prebend Street from 12.30 to 1.30pm every Monday all year round, serving home-made soup, sandwiches, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

Pack-Up relies on the goodwill of the local community and gifts of good soup and cake would be gratefully received. If you can help, please contact Toni Parker, the coordinator of Pack-Up, on 07747 063633. To help with raising funds for the soup kitchen, a team of carol singers will set off from St James’ Church Hall at 7pm on Sunday 6 December. All welcome.
