National Garden Scheme

This Sunday, 23 June, 7 local gardens are opening as part of the National Garden Scheme. From city chic to relaxed wildlife retreat, you’ll learn how it’s possible to squeeze more than 150 plants into a small space, how reclaimed materials can add character, how to achieve a country house feel in a townhouse and how you can cultivate vegetables and flowers together with beehives and a mulberry tree. As access is via the house you also get the added benefit of seeing how other properties have been adapted.

Combined entrance for all the gardens is £10. Children are free and all the money raised will go the National Garden Scheme’s support for nursing and health charities. You can purchase tickets at any garden (5 have card machines, see below). Look for the yellow posters and balloons. The gardens will be open from 2 to 5.30pm, Sunday June 23. Discounted tea, cakes are available at Ginger and Mint on Prebend Street.  Don't forget to visit the square garden, the new beds are looking magnificent.
